Fact about Tez app, How to use it.
Tez is Google’s play to replace cash transactions and become a more central part of how people pay for things, using their mobile to do so. But it’s also a chance for the company to push out some new technologies — like audio QR (AQR), which lets users transfer money by letting their phones speak to each other with sounds — to see how it can make that process more frictionless, and therefore more attractive to use than cash itself. How to Open Tez app?
Open the Play Store from your app drawer or the home screen.
Search for Google Tez.
Select the action overflow button (three vertical dots on the right) next to the Google Tez listing.

How to pay with Tez app?
Once the OTP verification is done, you will be introduced to the home screen of the app. Here, tap on the left top corner where it says “Add Bank Account”.
Tap Install.
Moreover, you can also receive payments using the app. When you add a bank account after registering with the app, it automatically creates your UPI ID. It takes your Google account’s username to create it. However, you can change it later. As soon as you add a bank account, you can start receiving payments straight away. Just like sending money, you can also receive money via your mobile number.
QR Code support including Bharat QR
The option to scan and generate QR code is also there in the app. The app supports both the UPI QR code and the Bharat QR Code. You can also use it receive and make payment using it.
Next, select your bank from the list offered. Almost every bank with the UPI enabled will be in the list. One you select the bank, it would send an SMS to your phone number from the bank for the verification. This is the reason why the phone number you had to enter has to be linked to your bank account.
After the verification is completed, you will see the bank account details and the UPI ID on the screen and for security, Tez app will ask you to enter the UPI PIN to authenticate the account. Once you add that, the account is added.
To do that, tap on “New” in the bottom and you will see a big list of contacts that already have the Tez account active on their number. It would list out the following options.- Pay using Account number and IFSC code
- Pay with UPI ID
- Scan QR code shared by the other person
- Pay with Tez user phone number
Step 1: After you are done with the initial setup, you will now see 'Add Bank Account’ located just below your profile name at the top.
Step 2: Google Tez supports all the major banks in India. Choose your bank and select the mobile number to which your account in the above, select bank is linked.
Step 3: Next, the app will ask you to enter your UPI ID. Based on whether you have a UPI ID or not, Step 4 will not differ for both sets of audience.
If you already have a UPI ID
Step 4: If you already have a UPI ID, Tez will ask you to enter the same for verification. Just tap on 'Enter UPI PIN', type in your 4-digit PIN and voila your linked bank account will now appear on the app.
If you don't have a UPI ID
Step 4: Creating a UPI ID is pretty simple with Tez. After you have selected your bank and mobile number in Step 2, tap on 'Proceed’.
Step 5: It will now ask you to enter your Debit Card details which are linked with your mobile number. Enter your credentials and verify the OTP.

- Payments sent to a non-Tez UPI ID do not qualify for this offer.

Google will also be going out of its way, sort of, to make sure Tez transactions are well worth your money. The biggest draw, at this point of time, is the offer that Google Tez will let users win up to Rs 1 lakh per week. This will be done via Tez Scratch Cards that would make users eligible for cash amounts of up to Rs 1,000 with each eligible transaction going all the way to Rs 1 lakh every week, should they be really lucky.
