DGCA audit on IndiGo

Share :

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday said that it has ordered a safety audit of IndiGo. The audit of IndiGo is significant, as it operates the A320neo aircraft that are fitted with Pratt & Whitney engines, which are facing intermittent technical glitches with its operations.

"We confirm that there is currently a DGCA audit on IndiGo which is combined with the annual main base audit. IndiGo has received a limited number of show cause notices. IndiGo has responded accordingly and we can only comment on this matter after we have a discussion with DGCA on this matter," the airline said in a statement.

It added that the airline can confirm that IndiGo operation is run in even more stringent ways than prescribed by regulatory framework.
The Airbus 320neo aircraft, fitted with P&W engines, are facing problems, including mid-air engine shutdown.
IndiGo and GoAir are the two airlines which operate these aircraft. Carriers such as Air India and Vistara operate aircraft fitted with CFM engines.

In January, the DGCA had banned IndiGo and GoAir from operating their A320neos to Port Blair in the Andaman & Nicobar chain after a series of mid-air engine shutdowns.
