Service interphone

The Service interphone system is a voice communications system on the ground, between the flight crew and the ground service personnel. A communication can also be made between the attendant stations and the dedicated jacks around or in the aircraft.

A320 equipped with 8 service interphone points as figure show unlike most civil aircraft, there is no Service interphone selector in the audio control panel, but in airbus both service interphone and cabin interphone are interconnected together and can be selected by CAB and ATT switches in the audio control panel many flight crew and maintenance staff are confused between flight interphone and service interphone, so they select INT and MEC to communicate with service interphone points and the result is communication failure and they believe that either headset is faulty or interphone jack failure INT and MEC only used to communicate with the flight interphone jack on the exernal power panel.
