Bernoulli’s Principle

🔹Bernoulli’s Principle

Bernoulli’s Principle states that as the speed of a fluid (liquid or gas) increases, its pressure decreases .
In aviation, “fluid” often refers to air moving over a wing.

✈️Example in Aviation

An airplane wing (airfoil) is curved on top and flatter underneath.

* Air traveling over the top surface moves faster because of the curve.
* According to Bernoulli’s Principle, faster air has lower pressure .
* Air moving underneath the wing is slower, creating higher pressure .
* The higher pressure below pushes the wing upward — creating lift .

Simple Everyday Example:
When you blow over the top of a piece of paper, the paper lifts upward because the air on top moves faster, reducing pressure, and the higher pressure below pushes it up.

FunFact: Bernoulli’s Principle is one of several factors that create lift — Newton’s Third Law also plays a role in flight.
