Airbus A320 Takeoff CG certified limits and the operational limits.
A320 Takeoff CG certified limits and the operational limits.
In operations, the aircraft CG is not entirely known.
This is why the Operator must apply a margin between the certified limits and the operational limits.
Depending on the flight phase, the margin takes into account all of the following inaccuracies:
–Initial conditions (DOW/CG)
–Passengers (weight and distribution)
–Cargo (CG tolerance and distribution)
–Fuel (density and weight)
–In-Flight movements
–Moving parts
–Method of calculation
–Last Minute Change LMCs (if applicable).
The takeoff margin (that includes LMCs inaccuracy, if applicable) must be compliant with the TOCG tolerance defined in the CTL-LIM-Pitch Trim Setting chapter of the WBM
for A320, A tolerance of 5 %MAC forward and 5 %MAC aft between the real and calculated Takeoff Center of Gravity (TOCG) is acceptable when the Operator sets the takeoff pitch trim setting.
This is in order to prevent aircraft behavior that is not expected (aircraft heavy to rotate or self-rotation of the aircraft).
